Heart and Hearth: Opening Up and Stepping Out in Radical Hospitality
“Imagine people offering the absolute utmost of themselves, their creativity, their abilities, and their energy to offer the gracious invitation and reception of Christ to others”(UMC Bishop Robert Schnase). Beginning April 15, a five-week study will discuss the idea of radical hospitality, intentional invitation, and a continued focus on learning to love God and others. The class will meet at 9:15 at in the Parlor Conference Room. This study is led by Jeremy Grossman.
Lamplighters Adult Study
The Lamplighters class will be discussing Heaven and Hell throughout May and June. The class meets at 9:15 Sundays in the Friendship Room of the church and is led by Dr. Dave Schmidt.
Wednesday Morning Study Group
Beginning Wednesday September 6, Jim Morin will be leading a study group based on the book, The Beginnings of Politics: Power in the Biblical Book of Samuel by Moshe Halbertal and Stephen Holmes. The group meets every Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Trinity's new conference room off the parlor. Anyone is welcome to attend.
1st Sundays Parents Group
Join Amanda and Jeremy Grossman on 1st Sundays in their home for casual dinner and fellowship from 5 to 6:30 pm on Sunday, June 3. For more information, contact Amanda Grossman.
1st and 3rd Mondays Ladies’ Group
Stephanie Hollister and Kay Franscoviak are co-leading a ladies’ small group that meets first and third Mondays at 7 pm in the Parlor. On May 21, they begin a study entitled “Your Personality and the Spiritual Life,” written by Reginald Johnson. The leaders will provide readings, and no book purchase is required. The study takes off from the Myers Briggs personality test (take yours here) and discusses different ways the 16 personality types might most naturally relate to God. It will offer helpful ways of looking at our spiritual practices and how to make sure we are doing things that are life-giving rather than life draining. All are welcome to join, and bring a friend. 3rd Mondays Men’s Group
The Men's Group led by Terry Stamper will begin a new study on Monday, May 21, on Hannah Arendt and her writings on the Totalitarian state and how it led to the Holocaust. Arendt is widely considered one of the most important political philosophers of the twentieth century. She fled from Nazi Germany and eventually came to the US. They meet at 7 pm in the Friendship Room.
4th Mondays Ladies’ Group
A ladies’ group meets at Kristi Evans’ home at 6:30 pm, and consists of dinner, fellowship and discussion centering on the book, “Half Truths.” Please contact Kristi if you are interested in this discussion group.
Young Adult Dinner and Discussion
Trinity Young Adults meet frequently for a light meal and discussion on Sunday evenings. They meet every other Sunday from 6 to 7:30 pm in the conference room. Visit their Facebook page to stay up to date.
Ladies Night Out
The Ladies Nite Out has resumed. Our May night will be Tuesday, May 29, at Christo’s on Teal Road, Lafayette, at 6 p.m. The June night will be Wednesday, June 27, at 6 p.m. The place is yet to be determined for June. Ladies of all ages are welcome. No program! You choose your own meal off the menu. Please contact Melissa at the office to make reservations—By 3 p.m. Thur., May 24, for the May 29 evening and by Monday, June 25, by 3 p.m. for the June night. Come enjoy an evening of fellowship!
