Children's Ministry

All In-Person Activities Have Been Suspended

Children and Family Ministry

Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, we have decided that it is best to close the nursery.

Children's Worship
Families, your safety is our top priority. In order to continue to keep everyone safe, children’s worship is available by advanced sign-up only. All volunteers will be required to wear masks the entire time, and children are encouraged to wear a mask, but social distancing measures will be in place (because kids are kids)!

Children will begin service in the sanctuary with their families. Miss Melissa will dismiss the kids for children’s worship shortly after the start of worship. Children’s worship takes place in the basement Fellowship Hall. During children’s worship, kids play games, learn a Bible story, and complete other crafts and activities to reinforce our lesson. All families have their own bin of craft supplies that only their children use.

Please sign-up your family to participate in children's worship:

This sign-up will be available for the rest of the year, so you can make changes to your schedule as needed. Melissa will send out regular updates letting you know about additional availability on Sunday mornings. Contact Melissa directly for questions, melissa@trinitylafayette.org or call/text 248-346-3095.

Children’s Activity Bags During Worship
Trinity has prepared activity bags for children (toddlers-5th grade). If you attend Trinity regularly, your child will have a personalized activity bag with their name (first name only) written on it! This bag will stay at the church during the week. When your family arrives for worship, please pick up the activity bag from the designated table. Your child can enjoy the coloring pages and quiet toys during the service. At the end of worship, you are welcome to take home the coloring pages but please collect all other items and return them to the bag. Seal the bag shut and drop it off at the activity bag table before you leave.

Are you a first-time visitor? We have activity bags (not previously used) ready for your child's name to be added to it! By making individual activity bags available for our children, we hope to keep all of our families safe and healthy while worshiping together.

Check out the New Activity Tables!
If you’ve been to worship the past few weeks, you may have noticed that three pews were removed from the back of the sanctuary. In addition to providing space for people to gather (since our narthex is so small), we have added two small activity tables. These tables are for children not yet old enough for children’s worship, or any child who may not want to attend children’s worship but needs some space to create and move around during the service. Chairs for adults are located near the tables so that you can sit by your child. Also, at the back of the sanctuary near the tables are activity bags with crayons, coloring pages, blank paper, and a few other quiet toys.

Children’s Sunday School - currently unavailable
Children are invited to join us every Sunday morning for Sunday school (nursery care is always available during the Sunday school hour and worship service). At the beginning of 2020, we started a series on the fruit of the Spirit. During Sunday school, children have the opportunity to learn about God, prayer, reading the Bible, and they are encouraged to ask tough questions! Sunday school begins at 9:15 am and meets in the Fellowship Hall.

While the church is closed, check out the weekly activities posted in the Trinity Families Facebook group as well as other online offerings posted on Facebook and the home page.

Families at Play

Join us Sunday, November 15 at 3 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. This month, our family ministry activity will be decorating “thinking of you” cards to send to church members who have been isolating due to COVID-19. All supplies will be provided. Please join us as we take a moment to send some love to the many members of our congregation who are unable to gather with us in person.

This event is open to the entire congregation! There are plenty of rooms and tables throughout the church for us to spread out to maintain social distancing. If there are friendly faces that you have missed seeing in worship, join us on November 15 and send them a card!

Also, at the November gathering, families will receive Advent activity bags to take home. Please continue to watch the weekly eblast and emails from Melissa for information about our December gathering and opportunities to connect during the Advent season.

Trinity offers a multitude of programs for our youngest members and their friends. We strive to enable the children to learn at their own pace while they participate in a variety of activities while growing in Christ’s name.
  • Infant and Toddler Nursery with trained staff is available during Sunday school and Worship hours.
  • Children’s Sunday School occurs each Sunday morning during the regular Sunday school hour in the Fellowship Hall.
  • Children’s Worship. Children ages 3 & up attend worship with their families until they are released for children's worship in the Fellowship Hall. During children's worship, children will see and hear the Bible story and participate in activities and discussions that help them understand the story.
  • Special Events: Throughout the year, we have special events for children and families such as Vacation Bible School, Birthday Party for Jesus, Service Projects, Christmas Celebration, Family Easter Breakfast, and Back to School Bash.
Contact Melisssa Kramer, Director of Congregational Ministries at melissa@trinitylafayette.org for more information and to become involved in this ministry!

Sunday Morning Safety
Trinity’s Children’s Ministry team is always working to ensure a clean and safe environment for all our families. For this reason, we ask that all families who use our nursery and participate in children’s ministry complete an activity release form. This provides our staff with parent/emergency contact information so that we can quickly reach parents in the case of an emergency. If there is ever a change in contact information, please alert Melissa or one of our nursery staff members right away.

All volunteers are background checked and a volunteer is never left alone with a child. If you have questions about our Safe Sanctuaries Policy, please contact Melissa Kramer, Director of Congregational Ministries at melissa@trinitylafayette.org.
