· Children’s Moment There is a weekly children’s moment during 9 am worship with topics applicable to the service or children’s church theme.
· The children have participated in the service in special ways at celebrations such as Grandparent’s Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and more.
· Children’s Church is held each Sunday (except when there are special events in service). Children’s Church digs deeper into the children’s moment topic. Children return to the service to take communion on Communion Sundays. This fall’s topic is Methodism and the study of John Wesley’s three simple rules.
· Trinity Kids Club moved this fall to Sunday evenings due to the number of families with children in youth group, as well as elementary programs. The group is split into 4-6 years olds and 7-11 year olds for music, snack and Bible study.
· On Sunday evenings before Kids club, Trinity hosts a literacy, math and science series under the leadership of the Timmy Foundation and the World Engineering Foundation. Children in grades 1st-5th are welcome to participate in this free activity. This is our third year involved in this wonderful program and we are thrilled to see so many new faces this year.
· Narnian Explorers. This youth group for 3rd-5th graders welcomed 4 new members this year. The group meets on Sunday evenings. This group is working hard on preparing the family Christmas eve service. This group also does service projects, field trips and social events. Field trips/service projects so far this year have included a participation in the Hunger Hike, Christian Skate Night at Great Skates, Drum Series at the Black Cultural Center, fall party at Exploration Acres and an illustration workshop with Trinity member, Jeff Hagen.
· Trinity helped organize a special Water Day for the downtown area in the late spring which offered fun games, science experiments, food and an opportunity to sign up for VBS.
· Trinity joined with Central Presbyterian Church to hold the first Community Vacation Bible school with over 80 local children attending. Our theme was “Water U Doing” which studied the challenges which many communities around the world face regarding access to fresh, clean water for drinking and irrigation; Money was raised for the watering system which was sent to Watering Malawi, and emergency kits were made for the community meal. It was truly a blessed week.
· Two special events: Donuts for Dads and Muffins for Moms continued this year. The children really enjoyed organizing them, and we plan to do them again this year.
· The children are planning a Movie Night to raise money for Jubilee Christmas. The Narnian Explorers are looking at a fundraiser to help do their part to raise funds for apportionments.
· The Family Easter Party was a huge success with an overflowing room. We had brunch, shared the gospel, did a devotion and collected eggs.
· This year’s Fall Family Party was Race to Jesus with special food, games and crafts. The children and congregation missed the Holy Trunk or Treat (where they researched a Biblical character, dressed up as that character and then visited trunks of church members to tell about their character and get treats) this year, so we will plan on doing that instead of a fall party next year.
· Family Christmas Eve Service All the children will work on a special presentation for the Christmas eve service to be followed by a special birthday party for Jesus.
Thank you for the privilege to update you regarding children’s education.
