HIstoric Trinity Archives

Picture
Trinity's Archives houses lots of interesting, quirky pieces including:
  • A box of woodcuts of the church that were used to make photographs.
  • A vinyl record recording of the organ dedication service.
  • A pink and black spotted glass lampshade formerly used in the parsonage, as well as bits of wallpaper.
  • A miniature travel communion service.
  • An Underwood typewriter that was probably used in the early days of the church office.
  • An enormous Bible written entirely in German.

In addition, the collection includes:
  • Early handwritten church records (membership rolls, birth/death/marriage/baptism) dating back to the 1830s, which are useful in geneology projects and family histories
  • Extensive board of trustees records and blueprints
  • Minutes/records of various small groups: Sunday school classes, clubs, and organizations
  • Extensive trophy collection of Trinity's former church league sports teams. Fun fact: Did you know that Trinity had a bowling league?
  • Furniture and other artifacts used in the parsonage, the parlor and the sanctuary
  • Innumerable photos, letters and handwritten notes

"As members of Trinity United Methodist Church we are part of a collective identity that has existed for almost two hundred years.  This congregation is a living, breathing entity that has evolved over time and will continue to grow even after our association with it has ended.  Each individual is like a brick in the foundation that supports the entire structure and contributes to its beauty.  Each individual is important, and each individual story is worth telling and remembering.  If nothing is preserved then there can be no collective memory for future generations to share and to build on."
