Living Stones – South Lawn – Ryan reported that fruit trees and native plants have arrived. Shrubs have been removed. Steve Ash is working with someone on arch entryway. There will be shade trees planted along the 6th Street boundary, which will be planted late summer/early fall. We did not receive the Grant from Wabash River Enhancement; therefore the money received from the Miller estate will be used. Ruth is trying to find some different grants to be used. Help needed in writing grants. Garden should be planted in next couple of weeks depending on weather. Also, dog waste bags will be provided on the south lawn.
Apportionments – Judicial Council is meeting April 23-April 25 to determine if the General Conference vote was constitutional. Tracey reported that one of the Board members mentioned they did not feel comfortable with our funds supporting our denomination system after the General Conference vote. Most of the funds go toward overhead and not toward missions. One of our largest UMC in our conference has voted to suspend apportionment payments. After discussing Norma made a MOTION that we withhold 50% of Conference apportionments for March, April and May and revisit in June. NO SECOND. Kristi made a MOTION that we withhold 100% of Conference apportionments for March, April, May, June and July and to deposit in savings account and then revisit in August. Dinah seconded and all approved. Bus – Via email vote on April 11, 2019, it was approved that Church For Everyone will be using the bus this summer to transport children each Saturday from North End Community Center to a work site within city limits then back to the Community Center. They are not to go outside city limits. Volunteer Brainstorming – Trinity is in need of volunteers. Savannah suggested we have a “Volunteer Fair” in the GREAT room on a Sunday after church. Tables would be set-up for 3 or 4 areas that really need help and present volunteers will be there to talk to interested members. Snacks will be provided. Tentative date will be August 11, 2019. Easter Offering – Norma explained the Lebanon Children’s Home Foundation Fund mainly goes to Administration. If it was to go to Lebanon Children’s Home Auxiliary, it would be available for purchase of tickets to baseball games, swimming passes, furniture for the homes, etc. After discussing Norma made a MOTION to redesignate the offering to Lebanon Children’s Home Auxiliary instead of Lebanon’ Children Home Foundation Fund as moved in the minutes of March 26, 2019. Kristi seconded and all approved. LUM Follies – Susie reported the Follies would be held on May 3. Trinity will need to prepare a basket for auction. She will be asking in church on Sunday, April 28 for monetary donations. Value of the basket is around $80-$100. Finance – Eric did an overview of the budget through March and said that overall everything looks in good condition. Trustees – North Street – Upper door continues to have problems with handles. They are not heavy enough for the doors. DK Construction to be at church tomorrow (4/24) with Haley’s to switch lock/handle out to cover proper door weight. Office – Need to have video door be installed on back door. Kristi will check with Brian Dalder and Chris Jewell to install. A rail has been installed at the back door for easier entry into office. Also, while North Street is closed, people working or coming to office can park in alley, spot behind office and cement pad, where trashcans are at along alley. Kitchen Basement Door – In case elevator is down during street construction, the people opening church will need to get in. Therefore, the kitchen basement door will be rekeyed at a cost of approximately $1,000.
