In Attendance: Chair Savannah Jewell, Kenny Jones, Ryan Wynkoop, Dinah Dalder, Kay Franscoviak, Mary Jo Risk, Eric Danz, Norma Singley, Claudia Alenduff, Amber Traeger, Susie Riley and Pastor Tracey Leslie Pastor Tracey opened the meeting with prayer. Norma made a MOTION to accept the minutes of August 27, 2019, Governing Board meeting. Eric seconded and all approved Spiritual Formation & Discernment – Pastor Tracey distributed notes from Barton Congregational Discernment book. She read from John 15 and asked everyone to choose from the following questions and compare their personal life to one by either drawing or talking about it.
- What is growing well and producing good fruit? - What is growing well but could use pruning? - What is “dead wood”? - What is ready to sprout/beginning to bud? She listed different ministries at Trinity that we discussed. Challenge for next month’s meeting is for each of us to choose a couple ministries and decide what question they go with and does it match Trinity’s mission and vision. Guide Book – Cannot find someone to print. Most churches are going to digital. Will do more exploring and try to find the best company for digital. We will continue to produce some hard copies for members without computers. All Saints day Candles – Pastor Tracey provided a link for all Board members to look at a candle that can be personalized with the members name and the family of the deceased member could take home with them. All members were in favor of purchasing them. Nominations – Pastor Tracey announced the following positions have been filled. Staff Parish – Alegra Smith, Treasurer – Claudia Alenduff, Trustee Chair – Frank Cederquist and Discipleship - Kay Franscoviak. Still trying to find someone for Lay Leader and Recording Secretary. Apportionments – Voted at the April 23, 2019 Governing Board meeting to withhold 100% of conference apportionments (but continue paying district apportionments) and revisit in August. After discussing a MOTION was made by Savannah to continue to withhold 100% of Conference apportionments and continue to deposit into savings account and revisit in May 2020 (following General Conference). Eric seconded and all approved. Charge Conference – Date is October 13, 2019, 3:00 p.m. at Stidham United Methodist Church. Would like to have 2 or 3 Board members attend. Shut-in Supporter – Amber reviewed this new position with everyone. This will be paid from the Caring Fund. This position requires confidentiality. Finance – Eric reported all on track. The reason Worship expenses have been so high was of some expenses being improperly categorized. The organist, who filled in during Lisa’s leave of absence, should have been paid from staff parish, not Worship. In addition, there were a couple of invoices for special musicians that should have come from Program Endowment, which were passed on to Ryan for the Endowment Committee to approve. Trustees - In Kristi’s absence, Savannah reported for her. Building Management - Kristi is presently getting bids for building management. She has a meeting with a company later in the week. Bricks – Zilkowski has been hired to do Phase 4 (North side). Will start in December by removing the mortar and then will return in the spring to complete the work. Parsonage – Inspection was done on Sunday, September 22, 2019. - Water is coming in basement, which they think is the result of the patio installation. - A couple large holes are in the yard and Kristi will have a lawn company investigate. - Sprinkler system needs some repairs. - Dead tree on/or near the property that needs removed. - Will hire Heath Bentley for required mold inspection. All invoices will be voted by email. Staff Parish – Redacted per Governing Board By-laws. Pastor Tracey Compensation – Dinah announced that approval of Pastor Tracey’s compensation for 2020 is needed at this meeting so the information can be submitted for Charge Conference by October 1. After reviewing the numbers Eric provided, a MOTION was made by Norma for a 5% increase for Pastor Tracey’s salary making it $66,085.06. Mary Jo seconded and all approved. Eric made a MOTION to keep Tracey’s professional expenses at $4,000. Kay seconded and all approved. The November meeting has been moved to December 3, 2019, to avoid Thanksgiving week. The next meeting will be October 22, 2019 at 6:30. Kay closed the meeting with prayer at 8:00 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Claudia Alenduff
