Jubilee Christmas

12/16/2014

Thanks to the love and generous spirit of people at Trinity, 22 families were welcomed into our church for Jubilee Christmas on December 13.  As one parent said, "Jubilee is the difference between my children having a merry Christmas, and not having one at all."  Thanks to everyone at Trinity who supported Jubilee Christmas with beautiful toys, cash donations, cookies, prayers, and taking time to volunteer.  You made a different in the lives of these families by sharing the joy of Christmas.

A different kind of Christmas:  Opportunities to give

12/3/2014

This Advent season we will consider how to have a different kind of Christmas by exploring the ways in which we can truly experience the joy of living and giving like Jesus.

The challenge is this:  to scale back on the amount we spend on holiday gifts for family and friends; then, to match our giving to family and friends with our giving to those in need.

This year, Trinity has a particular focus on children in need and is providing three opportunities to give:

Jubilee Christmas - Saturday, December 13

Picture
Partnering with LUM, parents from 22 families will come to our church to “shop” for new toys for their children and enjoy refreshments. New toys and cash donations (clearly marked “Jubilee Christmas”) are needed to make Jubilee Christmas possible. Also, volunteers are needed to help organize the “store,” host families, provide transportation, and bake cookies for the party. Contact Kristi Evans (505-0210) or Susie Riley (414-3388) with any questions or to get involved!

Hat and mitten tree - throughout advent

Picture
We are putting up a bare Christmas tree in our sanctuary to collect children’s hats, gloves, and mittens to donate to Miller Elementary School and LUM Afterschool Program. Bring them  any Sunday throughout Advent or deliver them to the office during office hours, and we will watch our Hat and Mitten Tree become more and more festive! Questions? Contact Jen Gray (463-7029)
