There’s really no time of the year like Christmas, is there? The lights, the gift giving, the performances, the parades, the parties – whether you are energized or wearied by thinking about it all, I hope there’s something special about the season that you look forward to every year. For our family, the Jeff High School Holiday Spectacular is a performance that has become special for us and that we look forward to each year. The students there put on a phenomenal show – always entertaining, always touching – and there are a few elements that they keep in the show every year, so as a spectator it feels warm and familiar, and I love watching them every year. One of the traditions is the Santa Claus parade, which comes at the end of the first half of the show. Santa comes out with a stage full of toys – and by toys I mean students dressed up in spectacular, ornate costumes, singing and dancing and parading with Santa. The theatre is full of color, and lights, and music, and last night the parade featured Prince and Belle (from Beauty and the Beast); Mickey and Minnie Mouse; Woody, Buzz, and Jesse (from Toy Story); the Abominable Snowman; Pooh and Tigger; a nutcracker; Ariel, Cinderella, and Dorothy; several penguins and elves, and many more.
