What's Happening at Trinity

Returning Thanks

10/31/2020

In these strange times, it also feels strange to be running the annual fall stewardship campaign.  Some of you who are quarantining have not been in our church building in months!

Clergy are no longer permitted to come into the hospital and pray with you before a surgical procedure.  But, I hope and pray that Trinity’s current ministry offerings are ministering to you as best we can in these difficult times.  I’m glad to report that, with PPP and a couple additional member gifts, Trinity has remained on firm financial footing and we have not faced any difficulties in maintaining our facilities and paying our staff.  But even if you are not entering the building or seeing staff face to face, our ministry expenses continue.  As we find ourselves in this unprecedented time, we have chosen to focus this year’s fall stewardship campaign on Returning Thanks.  During November services, along with
financial contributions, we will also celebrate Trinity members who give tirelessly and generously of their time and talents to maintain our ministries and our outreach into our community.

By now all of you should have received your fall pledge card and letter from Finance Chair, Eric Danz.  Eric’s letter reminds us that, even in the midst of this pandemic, there is still much to be thankful for.  I am especially thankful for all of you!

I recognize that some have experienced financial hardship due to COVID.  But we pray that all of us are able to return thanks for the difference that Trinity makes in our lives.  If your income has been significantly reduced, we do not wish to create additional hardship for you.  If you could, contact Pastor Tracey and let her know so she can be praying for you.

If your income has not been negatively impacted, I hope you will recognize that the difference Trinity makes in our lives can only happen because of generous giving.  Please give as much as you are able to help shoulder the burden for those who are no longer in a position to give as much.

Please return your 2021 Estimate of Giving card no later than November 25.  Along with having arrived in the mail, the card can also be accessed via Trinity’s website: www.trinitylafayette.org/finance

From Governing Board Chairperson, Savannah Jewell

Here is the church.
Here is the steeple.
Open the doors…
Here’s all the people!

When I think of Trinity and its dedicated volunteers, I always think of this nursery rhyme. Our church is full of people who show up to help - both inside and outside of the actual building! The strong efforts of a few people have continued to promote our vision - to grow in love and service.

Every November, we turn our hearts and minds to the practice of thankfulness. 2020 has been a bleak year, but for all the struggle, it has brought out the best in many of us. This month, please help us celebrate featured volunteers from our congregation, as well as the ministries they have served. Keep an eye out every week for these moments to give thanks for the talents and hard work of those among us.

Many of our ministries are in need of donations of time, talents, and financial support. As we acknowledge and praise their efforts, please open your hearts and consider if these ministries could use your help. In the end, it’s our people who make our church!
