In order to make Fusion a success, there are lots of ways you can volunteer! Are you a Child at Heart? Who did you look up to when you were a child? Do you like to see the innocent joy of a smiling child? Are you looking to make a big impact in a small and easy way? Volunteer with Fusion Kids! During Fusion Kids, children will learn of the love of God and others and they need adults to help be their examples! As a Fusion Kids volunteer, you will be asked to help as children get settled and eat dinner, lead or assist in leading pre-planned lessons and activities, and supervise children during free play. You can volunteer from 5:45pm-7pm or 7pm-8:30pm, or both shifts! Fusion Kids is held in the Fusion Kids room (youth room) every third Monday starting September 17. Right now, we are looking for volunteers to simply come and volunteer once to try it out. A background check will be required before volunteering for the first time. There is no work that you would be asked to do in between monthly gatherings. If you are interested in making an impact in a child’s life through volunteering with Fusion Kids, please contact me. I will also assist you in completing a background check through the church office.
-- Melissa Kramer, Kids Team Leader Are you a Foodie? Come as you are, but not leaving the same is my hope for Fusion. I believe that this gathering will be a way for us to better connect and serve others in our community. One way that Fusion will do this is by serving a meal. To do this, we are relying on donations and volunteers. Volunteers can help in a few ways, they can bring in meals or can help in the serving, preparation, or clean up, all of which helps tremendously! We only need 2-3 food volunteers each month. We ask that volunteers show up between 5:30-5:45. If you are interested in helping out, just let us know, we would love to have you! —Isabel Danz, Meal Team Leader Are you an Influencer? To volunteer with the social media team, we need people that will actively engage with the Facebook page and will share posts to their social media page. We also need people who can come to events to help take pictures and talk to people that are there. — Lindsay Freebourn, Social Media Team Leader Are you a Storyteller (or know someone who is)? If you understand a story is a part of human growth and connection, you should be on the story team. Story team members will work at tables and breakout groups during the monthly Fusion gathering to help people dive into their own personal stories and connect them to the common story. The ways they will do that are by protecting people’s vulnerability through conversation maintenance, inspiring conversation by example and by prompting, and encouraging participants to focus on the prompts and/or subject at hand. Expect to dedicate your life to this group. Just kidding. Volunteer commitment is on a monthly basis. — Morris DuBose, Story Team Leader Are you a Welcomer? Hospitality is defined as the warm reception of guests or strangers and to be favorably receptive or open. This is what the Fusion hospitality team will do. Our goal will be to create an environment where people feel comfortable enough to allow relationships to be formed. We will meet our guest at the door, welcome them, and escort them to tables so we can introduce them to our table leaders. Our table leaders will then introduce our guest to others at the table. They will make sure that our guests feel at ease and comfortable. Table leaders will facilitate conversation in a way that invites everyone’s participation. Their “facilitation style” will insure that, as we discuss different topics, participants remain open and tolerant of other people's ideas. We are seeking an exchange of ideas, not a debate. So what skills are needed to be a table leader? Well, sparkling eyes and a friendly smile would be helpful but not essential. Being able to listen and being able to moderate the conversation are important; but most of all just being friendly is what is needed. The team will need 1-2 greeters and 5 table hosts each time we meet. We would like each host to serve once a month for three consecutive months for continuity. So, we are looking for 14 volunteers to serve during the first six months. Fusion will start at 6:00 p.m. so we will need to be on site between 5:30-5:45 to set up and start meeting our guests. The Fusion dinner concludes around 7:00 p.m. Hospitality team members will need to stay till our guests leave so we can let each of them know how happy we were that they were able to attend. At the same time we could see if they have any suggestions to improve the Fusion meetings. Knowing that many of us may not be totally comfortable being a table host (myself included), I would ask you to stretch your comfort level. To improve, sometimes one needs to be stretched and we should always be seeking to stretch and grow. So come and serve with me. — Bob Lilly, Hospitality Team Leader Interested in one of the Fusion Teams? Contact the team leader for more information or to sign up!
