On Tuesday, August 9, Dr. Ash took John Cookman to see the WWII planes at Purdue. On August 10, Dr. Ash took Fred Young to see the planes as well. Both John and Fred served on such planes during the war and they were delighted to see the planes again.
From Fred's wife, Mildred: Purdue had several WWII planes brought in on display. Fred has to use a wheelchair at all times and Dr. Ash brought over a big SUV, managed to get Fred (and his wheel chair) in it. He pushed Fred all around the planes and Fred hasn’t stopped talking about it. Fred was bombardier/navigator and it brought back a lot of memories for him. It was too difficult for him to get up in any of them, but he certainly enjoyed seeing all of them up close from the outside. A big “thank you” to Dr. Ash for his good deeds. Thanks to the ministry of Trinity's Friendly Visitor Program, some of Trinity's WWII veterans were able to enjoy seeing these vintage bombers.
